11. Evaporation pilot plants

a) Recirculating evaporator I

Brand and model:ARTUR PROBST

Capacity:Equivalent to 60–70 L of water per hour.

Description:Made of stainless steel (DIN 1.4571); it features a direct condensation system composed of a packed column for vapor condensation, condensate recirculation, two heat exchangers (tubular and plate), connected in series, and a 100 L storage tank. Heat transfer surface: 5 m².


b) Recirculating evaporator II

Capacity:Equivalent to 20–25 L of water per hour.

Description:Made of stainless steel (DIN 1.4571); it features an indirect condensation system composed of two heat exchangers (welded tube and plate), connected in series, and a 600 L storage tank. Heat transfer surface: 1.5 m².


c) Recirculating evaporator III

d) Mechanical agitation evaporator I

Capacity:DF 143/116 k

Description:This evaporation plant has a stainless steel AISI 304 vessel, heated by a steam jacket operating at pressures up to 5 bar, with a storage capacity of 30 L. It is stirred by a motor system mounted on the top, with stainless steel blades and a gear motor rated at 1.8 kW, rotating at 60 rpm with a transmission ratio of 23.5:1.

The plant also includes a vertical tube heat exchanger made of stainless steel AISI 304, with a heat transfer area of 2.5 m². Steam is drawn by vacuum using an autonomous vacuum unit, 1.5 kW, SIEMEN & HINSCH m.b.H (SIHI) brand, model L0 2704 KK.


e) Mechanical agitation evaporator II

Capacity:50 L of solution to be evaporated.

Description:This evaporation plant includes a stainless steel AISI 304 vessel, heated by a steam jacket operating at pressures up to 4 bar, with a storage capacity of 30 L. It is stirred by a motor system mounted on the top, with stainless steel blades and a gear motor rated at 1.4 kW, rotating at 50 rpm with a transmission ratio of 28:1.

The evaporator features a condensation system composed of two plate evaporators connected in series, and a horizontally arranged shell and tube heat exchanger, with heat transfer areas of 1.44, 1.54, and 1.02 m², respectively, to condense steam drawn by vacuum.
