a) Laboratory rotary reactor

Capacity:4 L total volume.

Description:Rotary reactor equipped with electric heaters, pressure gauge, thermometer, and sampling device.

b) Laboratory glass-lined reactor

Brand and model:Pfaudler, Typ M 24 – 115/G.

Capacity:4 L total volume.

Description:Glass-lined reactor rated at 40 bar, equipped with a steam heating jacket (maximum 16 bar), pressure gauge, thermometer, and sampling device.

c) Pilot glass-lined reactor I

Brand and model:De Dietrich.

Capacity:1,180 L total volume.

Description:Glass-lined pressure reactor (maximum 6 bar), equipped with a steam heating jacket (maximum 6 bar), agitation system (3 kW motor), pressure gauge, and thermometer.

d) Pilot glass-lined reactor II

f) Multipurpose glass reactor

Brand and model:Shott & Gen Mainz, Jena Glas.

Capacity:20 L.

Description:Consists of two mechanically stirred reactors of 20 L and 50 L, both equipped with heating mantles. Also includes two 20 L glass flasks.

g) Bioreactor

Brand and model:In-house manufacturing.

Capacity:100 L working volume.

Description:The bioreactor was designed for the production of lactic acid from sugars. It is made of stainless steel and includes the following main technical features:

A) Working volume: 20–100 L.
B) Motor with variable frequency drive.
C) Side sight glass with tempered glass.

It also includes systems for temperature control, pH, foam, pre-inoculation (inoculum incubation), strain preservation, strain handling (biosafety cabinet, heater), and culture medium preparation (magnetic and mechanical stirrers).
